Community Guidelines
Shout is your city talking to itself. These rules keep it somewhere people want to be. They apply to everything on Shout — posts, photos, replies, direct messages, profiles, usernames and paid Shouts alike. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
Don't
- Harass, bully or threaten anyone, or encourage others to. No hate speech or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or serious illness.
- Post violence or threats, or promote self-harm.
- Post sexual content or nudity. Any sexual content involving minors is removed immediately, the account is banned, and it is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
- Share someone's private information — home address, phone number, where someone is right now, or photos of them taken without consent.
- Sell or promote illegal goods or activity, including drugs and weapons.
- Spam, scam or impersonate people, businesses or organizations.
- Fake your location. Shout only works if people are where they say they are.
Do
- Keep it local and real: what's happening, what you need, what you're offering.
- Disagree with ideas, not people.
- Use Report (the ⋯ menu on any post or reply, or long-press a message) when something breaks these rules, and Block anyone you don't want to hear from. Blocking hides their posts, replies and messages from you, and stops their paid Shouts from reaching you.
Enforcement
We aim to review reports within 24 hours. Depending on severity we remove content, restrict posting, suspend or permanently ban accounts — without warning for serious violations. Paid Shouts that break the rules are removed and not refunded.
